A partial halo CME was observed by LASCO/C2 (CACTUS) starting at 07:12UT (30 July). It had a speed of about 600 km/s and an angular width of at least 180 degrees. This CME was related to the filament eruption in the northeast quadrant that took place earlier today (30 July, between 04:30-05:30UT). The LASCO imagery confirmed earlier findings from STEREO-images that the bulk of this CME is directed to the north and away from Earth. However, due to the angular width, a glancing blow from this CME can not entirely be ruled out. Hence, this CME may affect the geomagnetic environment around noon on 2 August. Currently, at most active geomagnetic conditions are expected.
